Balendra Shah, widely known as Balen, is a Nepali politician and structural engineer. He gained recognition as the 15th mayor of Kathmandu, serving from May 2022 until his resignation in January 2026. Before entering politics, he was active as a rapper. Balen Shah made history by becoming the first independent candidate to win the mayoral seat in Kathmandu.
